Academic Support | HCA Christian School Cumming GA

Horizon Christian Academy is pleased to offer academic support to students with certain diagnosed learning differences. As a smaller school, we want to provide clarity regarding the students we are able to serve based up on their needs and our support programs.

Our Academic Support Program is named the 412 Program based on the Bible verse:

“Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.”

Ecclesiastes 4:12.

At Horizon Christian Academy, the three strands are the student, the parent, and the 412 Teacher. This reflects our belief in partnering with families and students to build strong support systems.

There are three different programs at HCA:

Early Reading Support (SMART Program: Grades K-2)

The SMART (Systematic, Multi-Sensory Approach to Reading Training) Program provides one-on-one Orton-Gillingham phonics instruction. It is designed for early readers who need targeted intervention.

412 Program

Elementary, Middle & High School 412 Program

To enter the 412 Program, students must have Psychoeducational Testing from the public school or private practice identifying a disability that has been administered in the last 3 years. If the student has an IEP from Public School, there is Psychoeducational testing that has been done for that student to have an IEP. HCA requires that testing to determine if the student can be served through our programs.

Additional or updated testing may be required if it would us better support the student. Students may also need updated testing in their Junior Year to qualify for college testing accomodations.

Read 180 & Math 180

Read 180 and Math 180 are structured remedial programs that utilize:

Direct instruction,
Computer‑assisted learning,
and Independent skill practice.

Students qualify if they are two or more years below grade level in reading or math.
